The Seasoned Saleswoman Who Broke Out Of Her Rut
Ellen* had twenty years of successful sales behind her. Upon request, she dished out excellent advice to the newer salespeople, and was so well regarded that on occasion, even sales managers from other companies would solicit her advice. She had no desire to be a manager herself, especially since she had tried it and found herself with more stress and less income than her sales team.
Her sales were steady …not high-volume steady, but ‘mid’ steady. The only problem she was having happened to be the worst problem a highly regarded salesperson could have. She just couldn’t seem to generate or close any sales beyond those which steadily came her way or landed in her lap. Her numbers were reasonable only primarily due to her reputation and longevity in her field. She just couldn’t seem to break out of her rut, and she could see her travel and retirement goals slipping away.
One afternoon her sales manager forwarded her an email from someone at Business Breakthrough Therapy along with a note asking her opinion about whether she thought the coach-therapist services would be beneficial for herself or the team. Curious, Ellen offered to try a few sessions to see whether it might be the boost she needed. They both decided that Ellen would be an excellent test subject.
At her first session, Ellen told the coach-therapist that she’d rather that the therapist be clear, direct, and not make Ellen “waste any time having to self-discover.” They both laughed and then accelerated results from the outset.
It only took a few sessions for Ellen and her manager to see progress and a short time later several other sales team members had enrolled in sessions themselves.
With ongoing sessions twice per month, Ellen stayed out of her rut and reestablished her stride toward bigger dreams for the future.
